The effect of T-2 toxin on the delayed potassium ion current of nerve cell membranes of the mollusk Lymnaea Stagnalis

چکیده
The effect of T-2 toxin on the nerve cell membrane was investigated using 25 unidentified neurons of the visceral ganglion of the mollusc Lymnaea stagnalis .The method was performed by intracellular dialysis and perfusion of neurons under fixation of tension on these membranes.T-2 toxin within concentrations occurred between 10 -6 to 10 -3 mol / L blocked delayed potassium ion current I s k amplitude in 15( 66% )neurons out of 25 neurons investigated. The greatest decrease of the amplitude was shown under T-2 concentration of 10 3 mol /l , in which the current was 35.1 + 18.9% against the control amplitude ( 100% )the results showed that T-2 toxin revealed a cumulative action directly on the membranes of nerve cells , and confirms its high toxicity , since 10 minutes perfusion of the neuron membranes with the extracellular T-2 toxin – free solution did not fully restore I s k amplitude .

Modulation of ionic currents by dopamine in an interneurone of the respiratory central pattern generator of Lymnaea stagnalis.
Dopamine elicits alternating bursts of activity in the respiratory interneurones of the snail Lymnaea stagnalis. One of the neurones (VD4) was isolated in culture, and the effects of dopamine on both membrane voltage and current were studied utilising the whole-cell tight-seal recording technique. Dopamine had little effect on resting potentials near -60 mV, nor did it affect spike threshold or...

The liver fluke, Fasciola hepatica, is considered as the most common cause of fasciolosis in both domestic livestock and human. This study was carried out to detect the prevalence of the larval stages of F. hepatica in the snails Galba truncatula and Lymnaea stagnalis in West Azarbaijan, Iran. Snail collection was performed through searching 28 freshwater habitats from May to December 2010. Fol...
